WEST SALEM, OH (July 19th-20th, 2019) – Kris Thorne and PLR tuner, Mikey Rees are proving that they are one of the teams to beat in PDRA Pro Boost. The Pro Boost rookie brought the team to Dragway 42 in Ohio for the PDRA Northern Nationals with hopes of taking home another win.
Rees had the Thorne Racing C7 Corvette running in top form all weekend, qualifying in #1 spot with a 3.73 at 213mph. Thorne was followed closely by fellow PLR-powered drivers Kevin Rivenbark (#2 - 3.75 at 197mph) and John Strickland (#12 - 3.84 at 183mph).
Thorne’s road to the finals proved to be a tough path as he faced and beat Pat Moore in the Larry Nance owned Camaro, Pro Boost heavy-hitter Chuck Ulsch, and the PLR-Procharged entry of John Strickland in the semis. He met Strickland's GALOT Motorsports teammate Kevin Rivenbark in what turned out to be an epic all Proline-powered final round!
Thorne was deadly on the tree all weekend, recording a .001 reaction time against Ulsch, and a .009 against Strickland, and that didn’t change when the tree dropped in the final round. He clocked a (.014) 3.716 at 212.36mph to Rivenbark's (.021) 3.718 at 199.73mph, taking the win by just .009 seconds!
Thorne has now banked two PDRA Pro Boost events this year and currently stands in the #2 spot behind PLR-Powered points leader Kevin Rivenbark! The turbo vs blower tension is really starting to build and we're excited to see how the points race plays out!
Massive congratulations go to Kris, Karl, Mikey, Kyle, Michelle, and Kenny on racking up their third overall win this year, you guys have a heck of a team with Kris chopping down the tree, Mikey on the keyboard, and Kyle thrashing between rounds. The next PDRA race is Drag Wars presented by Pro Line Racing at Galot Motorsports Park on Sept 5-7.
Stay tuned for more PDRA action !!!
